INTRODUCTION:

TO OBTAIN A MAP WHICH SHOWS THIS ROUTE CLICK ON THE LINKS AT THE FOOT OF THIS PAGE. Located south of Drumin, this is a Community Walk located in the picturesque Glenlivet Estate. The Estate lies between the Ladder and the Cromdale Hills in the Cairngorms National Park, and is formed by the two broad straths of the Rivers Avon and Livet. It covers approximately 23,000 hectares and is part of the Crown Estate.

THE ROUTE AND FEATURES OF INTEREST:

The Route: This is a varied open 5 mile circular walk around the Blairfindy Moorland following farm tracks and hill paths, providing extensive views over Strathavon and the Cromdale Hills. From Altnaglander car park a steady ascent along a hill track (steep in places) leads to the Speyside Way Spur. The route then heads northwards along the Spur before leaving the long distance route to follow hill paths and sheep tracks rejoining the B9136 1km east of the starting point. A wide range of moorland wildlife can be seen on this enjoyable walk, which can be linked with other waymarked trails leading to the summit of Carn Daimh.

WALK GRADE:

Hard
A path which is generally over four miles, with varying surfaces and gradients along its length. In some instances the path could be less than four miles where it has excessive gradient and/or covers rough terrain.

Glenlivet Estate Ranger Service

The Glenlivet Estate has a ranger service based at the Estate Office and Information Centre at the south end of Tomintoul. The Centre, houses displays about the countryside of Glenlivet and how it is managed, and is open (free) throughout the year. (The office is not continually manned and staff may be absent at any time.)
